Little Polynesian has a varied and rich history.  It has been recently recreated through the vision and purpose of two local-born sisters, Te Tika Mtaiapo - Dorice Reid and Jeannine Peyroux.  Originally opened and operated with nine units in 1974 by a Tasmanian artist named Len Staples, the Little Polynesian was purchased by the two enterprising sisters in 1985 and it quickly transitioned into an even finer era of catering to an ever-increasing spectrum of international guests and ultimately satisfied visitors.  Not surprisingly, this goodwill quickly translated to occupancy rates that routinely averaged above 90 percent.

In 2005, the Little Polynesian underwent extensive renovations to unveil what can only be described as a literal re-creation to achieve once again a new level of service and amenities. Our magnificently built Ares (bungalows) have been designed with intricate attention to detail. Every unit uses traditional Cook Islands architecture combined with understated yet richly elegant décor.
